Welcome!
This 1880’s rowhome needs a lot of love and doing it DIY style is slow going. Check out what things looked like before here & here & here.
This is Bruce, supervisor of all renovations here at Brick City Love. And yes – that’s a mohawk. He’s badass like that.
If you’re new here – Hi!!! So glad to have you. I’ll love you forever if you comment.
If you have any questions, leave a comment or shoot me an email.

Carrie

(Belated) Welcome to Newark! Love this blog, looking forward to reading more about the renovation.
Hello and best of luck! My wife and I are buying a house in Brooklyn that is going to require a substantial renovation, so I will be following your blog for tips! Please consider posting a blogroll of other sites you find useful – we’re going to need all the help we can get.
Nina – Thank you!!
Dalton – Thanks! I will most definitely be posting a blogroll. It’s on the TO DO list this weekend (hopefully). If you’re blogging too, let me know so I can add your site. I love your photos, btw.
Hey! Welcome to Newark. And I am really enjoying the pics of your renovation. Your home is coming out great!!
Carrie! What is this I see going on in your life?! You didn’t buy that whole townhouse, did you? Looks like you two have a lot of work ahead of you, but are happy. And Rob looks…great! Congrats to you guys! I’ll be keeping up with your renovations…
Hi! Just stumbled across your blog and think its great! My husband and I also put down roots in Newark (about a year ago) and bought home in the Forest Hill/Northward section, so we’re kinda neighbors 🙂
That’s awesome, Joanie!! Maybe we’ll run into each other sometime. Thanks for stopping by {metaphorically speaking}!
Love the redesign. 🙂
Loved the work, and welcome to the smallest big city every!
Where is your house located?
Hi John!
For privacy sake, I’m not comfortable sharing that information, other than to say, “Newark.”
I just read your entire blog. Seriously – do you know how long that took? “You had me at hello….” (Ha!)
I have NO idea how I got here (which sucks because I thinks it’s only right to give shout outs to those who lead me elsewhere….)
I’m incredibly impressed with what you guys have undertaken and amazed at what you have accomplished and that you still have your sense of humor (…..and that you’re still married because me and my hubs? Yeah – totally splitsville if we were doing this. I say “Let’s jackhammer the floor!!!!” He says “In what world do you live?????”). You make my little piddly renovations look…well…piddly.
Totally adding you to my “must read” list because, well, I must read.
Kudos to you guys kiddo 🙂 Keep up the good work.

Looks like two new neighbors from ****** Street. We still remember the sad moment 17 years ago when a line of buildings in front of your windows were demolished for a Rutgers parking lot. Now, you are rebuilding life here, a happy one. Thank you. Hope to meet you soon.
Zehmin Zang are you stupid? They want to keep their address private you idi0t! You and your james st coalition has held back newark long enough. Get the hell out we don’t want you here anymore

I, for one, do not want to see a bunch of modern junk replacing beautiful old history houses. Who is Dave? A 4-year student at NJIT?

Hi Carrie –
Stage of Life (stageoflife.com) is currently looking for writers/bloggers to add to our growing multi-generational online community.
StageofLife.com is a website for today’s teens, Gen Y, Gen X, and Baby Boomer generations to share a story, impart wisdom, ask for advice, give advice and find videos, statistics, quotations, must visit websites and other resources tailored to each stage of life from high school to retirement…and all of the major milestones in between.
We work with talented writers, bloggers and regular folks like you and me to build a network of stories, crossing all stages of life, that will help make the world a better place.
Stageoflife.com is currently looking for bloggers to add content to our Home Ownership category. So if you are a contractor, realtor, avid DIYer, decorator, landscaper, or just have some insight to share, please feel free to contact me.
While there is currently no compensation at this time, we are more than happy to plug your business or add a link back to your website/blog. The more often you post an essay, the more people may see your name as a featured writer, thus gaining or adding to your online readership.
Thanks – Ryan

Hi there,
I would love to email you and ask you information about moving to Newark. My husband and I are looking to buy real estate in the Ironbound area, and want to get an idea of the neighborhood and hear from someone who really knows!
Great blog by the way–I wish I had the gumption to do this!

Saira-
I grew up in the Ironbund and know it very well. I am also a realtor. Feel free to email me at natp@aol.com if you have questions or need help.

I am in love with this blog. I am in the process of buying a home 15 minutes outside of Philadelphia (I just found out there is a great chance of exposed brick)…. built 1910. You have just inspired a single mama. Blessings!
My guess was that you were in Greenwich Village, NYC, except more light and more trees show outside your windows. What a charming house and what a great job you are doing.
Love Bruce’s Mohawk !
