The previous owner wasn’t living in the house when we closed. While they lived here when they first bought the place, it’s been rented out to various college kids for the past 5 years. We got a whole wad of keys at closing but, with so many people living here through the years, you never really know who’s keys still worked.

So last Friday, before we headed to Lowes (where Rob found his latest toy), Arthur came by.

Arthur, The Locksmith, that is.

We were going to change the whole knob & lock but, according to Arthur, the lock is original & mortared into the door. The knob was retrofitted to work it. It’s not pretty but it’s solid and staying. (We can work on aesthetics when we redo the front of the house.)

So, instead of changing them to something pretty, we just re-keyed them.

Arthur & his truck were broadsided a week ago, so his truck’s in the shop. He wasn’t happy to have to work out of a rental truck but did a wonderful job!

All done!!

Arthur apologized for not being able to make more copies (which he could have if he’d had his truck) but we honestly didn’t mind. The hubs wanted special keys for the front door:

We bought enough to give to our parents* copies.

*Our Phillies fan parents. Tee-hee. 🙂
