The Leaky Roof

Remember our stalactites?

The issue is in the back room we’re using for boxes, so luckily no furniture was ruined.

I finally uploaded the pics before we covered things up.

The water seems to be coming in from a few places. Around the hatch was easiest to see –

Notice the droplets?

In the ceiling of our back room had this drywall seam that had obviously been patched {badly} and painted over.

Rob picked at it. A little.

So we made giant funnels out of trash bags.

Yes I have a box of boas. Doesn’t everyone?

So that’s where we’re at. Contractor bags taped to our ceiling.

Roofers have been called. Appointments have been scheduled for quotes. Fingers crossed guys, fingers crossed.

  1. This is horrible! I’m crossing my fingers for you!!

  2. I like your creativity with the bags. Nice way to control the flow.

I can relate. We’ve been having issues with a couple of leaks in our back bedroom for years. We’d love to get around to ripping out the drop ceiling and nasty dark 70s paneling, but we can’t until whatever is causing the leaks is addressed. We’ve had a roofer out to do a pricey partial replacement, which seems to have worked so far, but the recent heavy rains have proven the repair for the other leak unsuccessful. Good thing our roofer doesn’t require payment until the leak is stopped!

    Fingers crossed for you guys!

Leaks are definitely the worst! Although it is not the greatest of situations, your temporary trashbag funnel solution was quite the creative interior decorating 🙂

  7. I’m back — you’re not going to believe this — because we found a leak tonight in our kitchen. Ugh. I’m horrified.

    Anyway. I’m in the club.
