The Charred Boy

A few days ago, my dear hubby had a birthday and I wanted to get him a really good present.

First you have to understand that Rob is one of the most difficult people to buy presents for.

If he wants something, he buys it. Of course we discuss big things but if he wants – say – a messenger bag, he just buys it. He is diligent about keeping a wish list online but I wanted to get him something special.

Something he’d never buy for himself but would totally love.
Something he never knew existed but, if he did, would want it badly.
Something that was just for him; not for the house, not for us. Just him.

I started pursuing the Shiver Bones Group websites.

Rob has loved their stuff since early undergrad and has quite the collection. I found the perfect thing and immediately emailed the artist. We worked out all the details and within days I had my treasure wrapped.

Here’s the unveiling. I believe the pictures say more than I ever can.

Welcome to the family Charred Boy!!

And humongous thank you to the artist, Michael Bonfiglio. He was wonderful to work with and you should immediately go check out the Shiver Bones Group (by artists Matthew Kirscht & Michael Bonfiglio). Their stuff rocks our world.

And while we’re on the subject of birthdays, look at the cute cake our parents got him –

That looks like an Italian cream cake.

That thing is truly terrifying. I don’t think I could ever come hang out at your abode.

  6. Emily, I promise not to decorate the whole house like that! And I promise not to keep him in the guest room. Unless, of course, someone requests a monster under their bed (which we can aptly provide). Now will you come visit?? 😀
