Firefox just barfed on me. Again. Guess that means I had too many tabs open. Again.
So what was soooo facinating that I just didn’t close the tab? Well lets take a look.
Apparently, I spent wayyyy to much time this weekend researching historic home grants.
- This Google search for the Johanna Favort Fund for Historic Preservation
- Newark’s Economic & Housing Development departmental overview
- Information about the DRC Homeowner Incentive Grant Program Baltimore, MD has
- Resources for Historic Homeowners page by the National Trust for Historic Preservation
- How to Preserve Your Historic Home by the National Trust for Historic Preservation
- the Preserve NJ blog {blog on historic preservation in NJ by Preservation New Jersey}
- Preservation NJ’s Funding Opportunities
- NJ Heritage Development Coalition – Looks like NJ is trying to develop a program like Balitmore and a bunch of other places have to give grants to homeowners {currently you have to be a nonprofit or it has to be a public place to receive grant money}. The bill is currently awaiting action by the Assembly Appropriations Committee. C’mon New Jersey!!!
- How to Take Action for the Historic Property Reinvestment Act
- NJ Heritage Development Coalition
- NJ Historic Preservation Office website
- National Trust for Historic Preservation’s NJ Contact page
- NJ Historic Trust’s Capital Preservation Grants page {individuals don’t qualify, btw}
- NJ Historic Commission Grants & Prizes Program
- NJ Council for the Humanities’ Grants Homepage
- NJ DEP Historic Preservation Office’s Tools for Historic Preservation
- About the NJ Chapter of of the American Planning Association
What did I learn from all that research? There’s not much grant money available for individuals with private homes in New Jersey. If you’re a nonprofit or governmental agency OR it’s a public property, you’re more in luck.
Then we have the non-historic home links:
- This discussion about Anderson vs. Marvin {we haven’t gotten quotes for either}.
- True Blood Season 3, episode 8
- True Blood Season 3, episode 9 {watched both, just forgot to close the tabs}
- Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution, episode 101 {watched the series already but why not re-watch it?}
- This cute 1902 Victorian in the country
- Jeannine from Small & Chic in Cville’s musing on gentrification. I know the feeling. People sometimes have very visceral reactions to the the changes taking place here in Newark.
And just for fun –
This picture from the Library of Congress‘ photostream. It’s titled – “Backstage” at the “girlie” show at the Vermont state fair, Rutland (LOC). It’s in their 1930’s-40’s in color set. I like it.
What are you looking at these days?
I swear I was just researching the same thing! Except mine was for RURAL NJ development and preservation! SOL for my search as well. {you have to make about $10 a year to qualify for the loans} Great links though, I’m definately going to take a read through them.
Love the picture! I have a LOC reader card and about died of sheer joy when I stepped inside the rotunda.
