Pride Parade 2009

I now bring you the first installation of a little category called “Locally Newark,” which features fun things happening around our pretty awesome city.

Sunday, June 14th, we took a little break from massive renovations to support our neighbors and community pride. Gay pride, that is.

Like my flags?? I whipped them up Sunday morning before we headed over.

(Boy does our railing need to be scraped and re-painted.)

Got a few pictures of them before heading out and giving them away to fellow parade watchers who were without any rainbow.

Even Bruce the dog was sporting rainbow.

Perhaps it was too much rainbow for a straight couple at the pride parade??

Is there really such a thing as too much rainbow?

Oh wait, have you seen our 1st floor? Yes. Yes there is such a thing as too much rainbow.

And yes, our dog does have a mohawk. Fluffy little boy dogs need manly, manly haircuts.

After the parade, there was a festival.

Yeah, I’m wearing a matching headband. What?!

Oh! I didn’t get a picture of it, but the hubs had a rainbow arm band too. That’d be:

  • 1 rainbow headband
  • 1 rainbow armband
  • 1 rainbow neckerchief (that’s a weird word actually spelled out)
  • 2 rainbow flags (which were given away)

OK. Ok. We’ve already established I went a little rainbow happy. But what do you expect when I have yards of this fabulous rainbow fabric just sitting around begging to be used and  – WHOMP! – here comes the Pride Parade. If nothing else, I dress for the occasion.

Then we grabbed a quick lunch at a local cafe.

It was a fun late morning/early afternoon.

But then we went to Home Depot. Cause if it’s a weekend, we’re at Home Depot.

And now back to your regularly scheduled renovating.

Excellent! I’d have gone if I was anywhere near Newark….

I don’t think you can get too much rainbow in your life. And, you must know that I laughed so hard at Bruce’s mohawk, I almost keeled over and died. So adorable. And, I love that you all matched.

    HA HA!!

On a serious note though… Bruce is absolutely adorable. Is there such a thing as too much Bruce? I think not.
